Cholesterol: Fine tuning my breakfast.?

Question:
I received a borderline high reading on my last cholesterol check. I'm not too worried because it was a finger-prick non-fasted blood sample taken by those people that show up in your officeplace. My doctor did a full blood sample with fasted blood and said everything was fine. Nonetheless, I would still like to lower my total count.

I suspect my unhealthiest breakfasts of the week to be composed of hash browns, 1 egg, and 1 strip of bacon...I eat this combo twice a week. I'm planning to cut down on the egg and bacon by alternating (e.g. HB with egg one day, HB with bacon the other day.) My question is: is there anything in the Hash Browns that would contribute to total cholesterol, presumably fried in canola oil?

(I eat oatmeal on the other days.)

thanks

Answers:
Potatoes and Canola oil have no cholesterol of the type that's harmful. Eggs do and so does bacon. If you're genuinely concerned drop the bacon. What else do you eat because your total cholesterol is not going to be high just from 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon per week.
