How many calories do you lose in a 1-mile walk?

im a 17 yr old female.. about a 160 pounds..:< and i dnt really frequently exercise.. starting now.. i juz wana knw how much you lose in walking 1-mile.. thnks

FWIW, 50 calories might not seem like a lot, but walking is (IMHO) a great way for a novice to ease into an exercise routine. It's non-impact, and requires no special equipment or facilities. You'll feel better for doing it, and you may even find it helps control your appetite.

Less than 30 calories. That's not even 15 minutes.

To lose weight and burn fat, you have to do at least 30 minutes at a pace that will make you sweat.
if you're going to just walk, you need to do more than one mile to lose weight. i suggest about three miles walking.

if you jog, then one mile is enough

either case, you have to do it at least 3 times a week and you have to eat healthy as well.
I have read many places it is about 100 calories a mile. A little more if you go pretty fast.
It all depends on the speed that you are going. Treadmills can usually be set to give you a calorie count. If you want to lose one pound you need to burn 3,500 calories.
