Monosaturated fat?
Question:
Answers:
Monounsaturated fats lower bad cholesterol without lowering good cholesterol.
Monosaturated fat is "neutral" fat, so you won't be benefitted or harmed by it basically. I have no idea if it's good for babies, but it's fine for you in moderation. Hope that helps!
I read some useful articles on http://www.healthopts.com which gave tips on losing weight the healthy way.
Unsaturated fats are better for health in adults. They fall into poly unsaturated fats and mono unsaturated fats. The difference is to do with the chemical structure of the fat.
Mono unsaturated fats are not as good at lowering cholesterol than polyunsaturates but are better at maintaining levels of HDL cholesterol (the good type).
For babies they need all types of fat including saturated fats which are naturally present in milk. This is because for a baby cholesterol is not a problem, and cholesterol although it gets a lot of bad press is essential. Cell walls are formed from cholesterol, and it is also essential for the process of digestion. It is TOO much of the bad type, LDL cholesterol, that presents problems for health.
