To get the best out of the workout you do not want to eat 1 1/2 -2 hrs before but you also do not want to workout on a totally empty/ hungry stomach.you can eat a small healthy snack after workout but not a hudge heavy meal at 9:00 unless you are going to be up another hr and a half and do something to burn a bit of it...even then not a big meal. As for before, sounds like you go just after work.if that is the case it will be hard to fit dinner in before, but you can throw a healthy snack or energy bar in at around 3:30 or so...if you are hungry just before the workout and have to consume something a half a glass of watered down orange juice is best...ew I know but if you eat just before the aerobics, your body will use the blood flow you need for oxygen while exercising to digest the food in the stomach (you get less out of the workout and have less energy). As for the carbs...low fat, low sugar is best.eat lean protein, lots of fresh fruits and veggies and add some low fat dairy and carbs to the meals.what a healthy plate looks like...

50% veggies (diferent colors/variety is good) fresh is best
25% lean protein 3-4 oz of skinless chicken breast/ tuna...etc.
25% carbs...potatoes/rice/pasta

Fruit and yogurt are great desserts...drink lots of water especially before and during workout! male sure you are staying for the toning if offered after class or do some on your own...pushups/squats/abs/arms with dumbells...etc.

Don't skip breakfast, eat a boiled egg, small bowl of oatmeal or a yogurt and an apple...something to kick start your metabolism and tell the body it is time to wake up and get working for you!

Keep up the good work, your efforts will pay off if you stay consistant!
You should stay with a medium carb, low fat high protein diet, carbs are fuel for your body and you need them, your body will burn them anyway. Stay away from sugar, drink water, or no sugar juice or diet soda. You should eat 3 times a day, eating 1 or 2 times has your body storing fat because it thinks you are starving your body. Eat fruits, yogurt, protein bars stuff like that for breakfast.. then chicken, fish, turkey any seafood and vegetables for lunch and dinner.
eat breakfast for one...thats a golden rule.if you eat late make it protein with very few carbs-its hard but eating 5-6 small meals a day is really the trick. I wouldnt eat any later than an hour before a workout. Also don't cut calories way down because all you will do is throw your body into starvation mode and you won't lose weight.

low carb really isnt the answer it causes a lot of water weight loss but not fat-you need carbs to fuel aerobics and for general energy as it is fast burning-also work in some weightlifting. Weights in my opinion are more productive than excessive cardio for weight loss. cardio is great for lung power but for shaping-nothing beats the weights-and no -you won't get big.
If you're going to eat, based on personal experience, eat after exercising. Since you're going to lose water after exercising, you should drink water and then eat because the water will fill up your stomach before the food so you eat less.

Your body should use up everything it takes from the food because it's drained from the exercise. Steer clear of carbs and suger as much as you can but not completely.
it depends on what time of day you are going to excersise, I think the best thing to do os get up in a morning and go for a run or what ever excersises you enjoy doing then have a shower and then have breakfast (cereal & Juice) you should always eat breakfast as it will start your motabolism for the day and get your body running right for the day then have a healthy lunch then have tea when you get home then do half an hours exersise before you shower at night then relax for the rest of the day once you have got in to a routine things should get easier.
If you eat prior to working out, you might find you don't feel so well- best to eat after work outs- and light foods- something small. PLENTY of water as well.

Also, you need some carbs, allow yourself 1 or 2 a day at least, key to weight loss is a low sodium diet- not eliminate it but watch your intake from boxes, frozen, canned and prepacked foods- check labels for sodium content. You need to lose the water weight before burning fat, low sodium will reduce water retension, and burn the fat quicker.
Keep this low sodium routine, if you can for the rest of your life, this will help you maintain your weight and keep off the extra pounds in the future.
Good luck- stick with it, once you fall off the wagon, it's hard to get back on.
Yes definately eat before aerobics, however dont eat too much. Something with low GI carbs and some protein is perfect. Eat this about 1 hour before. Also make sure you eat afterwards, something with a bit of sugar in it and some protein because your body needs to replenish what it has used.

As for what you should steer clear of. Reduce sugar intake except for post workout. reduce saturated fats, but dont completely cut them out. DO cut out trans fats.
So what you're saying is you DON'T feel hungry. When do you eat.?
If you drop me an email of your daily food intake and the times etc. I can give you a guide of where you're going right or going wrong, or visit my profile.

Best wishes
You are supposed to do both.

Before exercise you should have a slow release carb together with protein meal. How close to the session this is will vary depending on your own individual tolerance. I can eat right before and still do a workout but some people would be sick if they ate that close.

Then as soon as possible after a workout you should have fast absorbing carbs together with protein which will replenish glycogen stores whilst your muscles are primed to respond to insulin (the window is only around an hour or so) and the protein will help repair muscle tissue.
