Have You Heard about the diet book "Skinny *****?"?
Question:
I personally think they could have labeled it something else, I find it Offensive..Won't be spending my money for it..how about you?
Answers:
I've read it. They're very decieving advertizing it as a book to lose weight, its actually a book about animal rights mostly, just trying to convince you to give up meat for the sake of stopping animal cruelty. There's a bit of terrible diet advice in there too (don't eat until you're starving?) but that's just the hook to get you to buy the book. I don't find the title offensive, its just something to catch people's eye so they'll be more likely to pick the book up. Kind of like how Anne Coulter titles her books to be offensive to liberals just so that angry liberals will pick up the book to see what it really says. So far its been working quite well for them.
ya i heard it on the view.
they said it was basically a guide on how to eat like a vegan
No, I'm not willing to give up the sweets in my life. I could loose weight without giving up anything, just by cutting back. I eat fairly healthy but not perfect. Why give up the small things that I enjoy? The title does not offend me but I could see how it would be offense to other.
I sympathize with a lot of writers out there with a lot of genuine things to say, but unfortunately don't get a chance to get heard because of those empty vessels that dont play by the rules and hence create or fuel the need for commpetitiveness and cheap tactics such as those of giving an innocent book a title that you dont want your child to to come across in the bookstore.
Personally, that particular book sounds like something that I would probably google first or wait to hear from a reliable source before I decide to spend my hard-earned cash, otherwise rent it from your local library.
