Does it matter if "OPTIBOL" is expired?

If it was a drug I would say it does matter and NO he shouldn't still take it.
But I think Optibol is a protein powder so in this case I would go on smell and taste. If it tastes funny (gone bad) or smells funny then don't use it otherwise it should be alright as long as it hasn't actually been open for several months too. He would probably have felt unwell from taking it also if it had gone bad, as this is often an indicator of spoilage.
If in doubt ask a Pharmacist.
