overweight =a few pounds out of the range
obese=downright big enough ,the person has a hard time doing a lot of stuff
obesity is a clinical term for people who are significantly overweight, the extent to which it is or may cause health complications, i.e., diabetes.
On the weight guide... there is a chart that says what is considered a healthy weight range for each gender and height.
If you exceed this number by any amount you are considered overweight... if you exceed this amount by more the 50% (i think) you are considered Obese. There is another number concerning body fat percentage that puts you into the obese catagory.
the basic difference is... being overweight, you can still be healthy. Obesity starts showing negative effects on the body and thus can be detrimental to your health.
My true feeling is that overweight is when you don't realize you are overeating and add the pounds through a long period. Obese is a lifetime of bad eating, glandular conditon, stress, nerves and food was given to you from birth to make you feel better. My family was the reason I was obese because of all the people starving in China you had to clean your plate. Learning to live and eat proper has been a long struggle for many folks - especially me.
good question....
wow to me they are both the same
very unfit!
BMI!!
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
PS most people who are overweight think they are "normal"; most people mildly obese think they are just overweight... for example, a 5' 6" female weight 155 lbs is overweight NOT "curvy" and the same woman weighting 186 lbs is ***obese*** most definitely NOT JUST "overweight"
You're obese. Most of America is overweight.
