Ive Been Dieting VERY Well For The Last Couple Of Days & Yet I've Gained Five Pounds?

Question:
I also have been drinking alot of water.

WHAT GIVES??

I feel like crying.

Answers:
Don't cry, sometimes our bodies react funny to changes in eating habits at first...some people do well on a diet and another might not since our metabolisms are all different, and our requirements.

I went on the Birmingham Alabama Cardiac Diet (3-day diet), and did great, so did some others, while yet others did not do well at all. I love the diet, lost 25 pounds in a few weeks, but when I lost the right amount of body fat, the diet quit working and my body started putting on muscle, which weighs more than fat...so my body kept changing although the scales didn't show it. Here is a link to the diet I did. I love it! You have to follow it exactly, but it is really easy and very inexpensive...You do it for 3 days, and then eat normal (but don't over eat) for 4 days. You can do it as long as you like. I have never felt better or had more energy, also, I never really felt hungry during the 3 days.

There are several sites for this diet, but I like this one. I found out about it because my daughter is a nurse and a doctor that she works with did it and lost 40 pounds in a little over a month. She was impressed, anyway, I have been off the diet for a few months and I have not gained any weight back, and my eating habits have greatly improved because of this diet.

lol that cna be good or bad first of all you might be gaing mucsle losing fat or you might be eating to much so just keeping going tp the gym dieting and youll be fine youll be losin weight in no time
its probably water weight, and 2 days of dieting wont give you miracle results, you'll see results from 2 to 8 weeks, good luck.
It took more than a couple of days to get into your shape. Your gain may well be the water. Stick with it, you will see the pounds drop off.. Only if you are sincere and not binge eating like you are getting away with something while no one is watching.
Relax it's not fat. It's water. It's ok. To gain 5lbs of fat you would have to eat 17,500 extra calories. On top of what you burn everyday so you would need to eat about 29,500 calories to put on 5lbs of fat. Remeber our body is 70% water so you retain alot of it. It's good for you. Pay less attention to the scale and measure progress by look. such as do your clothes feel looser etc. Keep drinking the water your doing fine
Awww .. Dont Worry You Will Get To Your Weight Soon .. =]]
I suspect that what's happening is you're not eating enough, therefore forcing your body to go into "starvation" mode and conserve everything you take in. Six small meals a day is the way to avoid this.

Also, if you're using prepared foods for your diet, check out the nutrition labels. Alot of low-fat food is high carb, which defeats the purpose entirely. You need to watch calorie content, fat content, carbs, and sodium.

If you're not exercising, get moving. You'll find that you will lose it faster and have a better chance of keeping it off. If you are exercising, the five pounds could be from muscle. Better have a friend take some body measurements for you to keep track of inches as well.

Also, keep a food diary. Just a simple notebook. Write down the time of day, what you ate, portion sizes, etc. You might be surprised at what you actually take in. It's easy to forget what you've had if you have a busy schedule.

Don't get discouraged. You didn't put it on overnight, and it won't come off overnight. As a fellow dieter, I completely understand how frustrating it is to plateau. Have faith, the scale will start moving downwards again soon.
last few days?!? ahahahah...what a joke. Mate it takes WEEKS of hard work and plenty of exercise. Plus, you could have just retained waterweight from not going to the loo.

BTW dieting means NOT eating high sugar substances or anything FRIED. It does NOT mean eating salads 24/7. You need to get some proteins and carbs (i.e. meat and pasta/rice/bread etc) into your body.

Plus, you gotta run at LEAST 5km per day if you wanna get anywhere. If you're not running there's no point. You'll become a yo-yo just like Oprah so you GOTTA EXERCISE!

Good luck and peac.e
Dieting for a couple of days is not enough time for significant wieght loss. You probably just have some temporary water weight. Also, if you cut calories down too far (below 1200 a day), your body goes into starvation mode and burns less fat. Be easy on yourself and stick with it. Eat healthy and exercise, and still drink water, the water weight will go away soon. Remember, if you do everything right, the normal weight loss is a max of 2 lbs a week. Just stick with it.
You gained weight becuase you've consumed alot of fluids, the way i lost weight was this way, vegies and boiled eggs and juice for breakfast, plenty of water till lunch, eat high proten lunch with salad and a fruit, then around 3 o'clock have a very light snack say a bananna, drink water then six o'clock a meduim sized high protein dinner leaving me a little hungry but only just so. the key is to have regular healthy meals drink water and get some excercise if you can.
You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.
