Should hamsters get a lot of excercise?

Question:
Should it get used to the world around it? I am letting it run around in my garage without it's excercise ball. Is that safe for it? Please try to tell me if it should have a harness and how can I tell if it has bald spots. Since it is not that fast, I let it run outside for a few minutes everyday. Please tell me if that is safe. I appreciate your support. Thank you!

Answers:
You should not let your hamster run around in the garage without an exercise ball. It could crawl into a small space and then you will not be able to see them and they may not be able to get out. A few minutes outside is alright as long as you know that there is nothing dangerous outside your hamster could eat or get on it. Don't forget that the hamster also should have a wheel inside the cage to exercise in and the cage usually will have plenty of room for it to run around.
Nah, let him get fat and gain weight. Enjoy himself.
Just get it a hamster wheel. Then it'll get all the exercise it needs right in its cage. Remember, hamsters are nocturnal by nature, so they want to do their runnin' around at night, when you're probably not in the mood, so get a wheel and let him do his own thing while you sleep!
Get him a wheel, he needs more than a few minutes of excercise a day! My hampster runs for about 5 minutes, takes a nap, gets back on and repeats...
