Which of these two dishes do you think would be healthier?
Question:
Antipasto Salad: Authentic spread of Sicilian favorites surrounding our famous house salad. (house salad comes with vinaigrette dressing)
Grilled Chicken Hoagie: Served on Italian stirata bread, topped with provolone cheese and accompanied by fries. Substitute salad $1.99. Grilled marinated chicken with roma tomatoes, provolone cheese, romaine lettuce, and dijon mustard.
Thank you very much!
Answers:
Carbs are not the enemy, fat and total calories are. Therefore, without question, the best way to go would be the second one. Get the grilled chicken hoagie WITHOUT the cheese and ask for a substitute for the fries (fruit cup, vegetable or even a small helping of pasta).
Go with the salad but ask them to put the dressing on the side instead. If you have bread with it make sure its whole grain bread. It should be fine.
I think you're stressing too much. If you normally are very careful about eating healthy foods, then you can splurge once in a while. You won't be hurting anything.
I would go with the salad, too much carbs in the bread.
Healthier Choice? The Antipasto Salad... but, that's not really all that healthy either - still has lots of fat in it.
None of them sound very bad. But I think the Hoagie is the more fattening choice. In general the cheese and the bread and the fries are the fattening aspects.
I would say the antipasto salad. The Hoagie sounds as if it has too much cheese.
Although the antipasto is going to have olive oil in it which is high in calories, olive oil is very good health wise. However, antipasto is very, very high in calories.
The stirata bread will more than likely have as much fat as the antipasto but it won't good a good fat.
A better choice would be to have the chicken hoagie but without the bread. It's not due to the carbs in the bread but the fat. See if you can get the chicken severed on it's own with the side salad. This would be the best.
The antipasto salad sounds like the healthier choice. Anti (against) pasto, like it combats whatever is hard to digest in the pasta. Of course I'm just speculating. The vinaigrette dressing sounds like it has vinegar and vinegar has always had a good effect on breaking foods down for me. The other choice has bread, cheese and the chicken. Over all, I'd say both are good choices, but my guess is that the salad is the healthier. Good luck and buon apetite.
The salad is better.
