Doing situps on something so "cushiony/bouncey" could really hurt your back. Throw a few blankets down on the floor and do your situps there.
Tighten your tummy and go slow, do your best to reduce bouncing.
It might help a little, but not nearly as much as it would if you weren't on a bouncy surface.
it will make it easier so just get an excercise mat or get a rug and go on that!
it definately helps it out...and that means you arent working your muscles as much/not working it out as hard
Buy a 3'x6' work out pad
sit-ups are pointless for weight loss anyway. if you are already thin and you just want to tone knock your self out on the sit-ups. if you are overweight you are wasting your time anyway. if you want great sit-ups, sit on the arm of your couch brace your feet and do them that way.
invest in a yoga mat, the couch bouncing could lead to a minor back injury
I would suggest getting something like a yoga mat. Its non skit and has some padding to it that will probably help.
doing it on a couch will make it 3x easier try putting blackets like 2 on the ground stacked and try doing it
it does not help you , but for like 10 or 20 bucks you can get a exercise mat from wal mart or a sporting goods store . they have grips so they want slid all over the floor and egnough cushion to make the situps do-able
until then try doing standing crunches and leg raises . just basically raise your left knee up to the right side and crunch down to the left side and then your right knee up to the left and crunch down to the right if you do it to the beat of music it will also get you some good cardio in
Have you thought of getting an exercise ball? They are excellent for back support for crunches, and there are a wide range of exercises you can do with and on them.
