What does 8 glasses of water a day mean?

Question:
They say to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but how much is that really? 8 cups? 1 liter? Glasses come in different sizes...

Answers:
It's recommended that you drink between 1.5 and 2 litres of water ( not counting water in coffee, cordial mixes etc. ). This is a guidleline only and depends on how active you are and the need to keep hydrated. Use the colour of your pee as a guide,it should be clear, not concentrated yellow.
8 glasses. they just assume that 8 glasses of water is enough as long as the glasses are big enough to hold an average amount of water.
8 8 oz. glasses of water or 4 16.9 oz bottles of water a day.
8 8 oz. glasses of water = 64 oz. a half-gallon per day.
12 oz is average for a glass, but generally, they are referring to a 16 oz glass.
I think they mean 12 oz glasses. But really you should go by how hydrated you feel. It is more important to avoid certain behaviors (overeating, particularly red meat and starch, smoking, using caffeine, using acidic soft drinks, etc.) than it is to worry about the number of glasses you get. Try to often drink your water on an empty stomach. Eat more fresh vegetables; if all you eat if green veggies, you won't even really need to drink water. Filter your water.
