How can I get ready for track?

Question:
This year will be my first time running track,I'm a 5'7'' 160 pound female and I was wondering what are the bast ways to get into shape, build speed, build strength, and build stamina?

Answers:
It will take a few months to build a base, slowly build up the distance every couple weeks, and alter the distance. After your base is built, them work on speed and strength by running uphill, and doing sprints. Run at least five days a week.
practice on a treadmill
run
start by running around your neighborhood a couple times.
stretch after ur done.
and do it everyday you dont want to get dehydrated so drink some water before you go.
practice good tips by breathing in through ur nose out through your mouth
and stay on the balls of ur feet so you dont get hurt.
lets ur shoulders drag without them making you feel like you need to stop.
Walking and running stairs. 140 wood be a better weight. You did not say what events you would be entering. Try to lengthen you stride a bit. Practice more than anyone else or you may be average. I think you have the basics from everyone. Good Luck.
