"healthy" weight, but no period?

Question:
im a 17 year old girl, 5'6, and 131 pounds.

ive lost 50 pounds since january, and i THINK im at a healthy weight (right?) .. some people seem to think im too thin, but according to my bmi, im not. anyway, i havent had my period in months, and my hair is falling out. why is this, and what can i do about it? im a virgin, so i cant be pregnant.

Answers:
It sounds like since you've lost a lot of weight in so short a time your body is in shock. You may not be getting adequate nutrition-that can cause your period to stop and your hair to fall out. I suggest not losing weight quite as fast. Right now you're at a healthy weight but make sure you're getting enough protein in your diet and everything.
