You can lose weight if you eat smaller portions, but eat 5 meals a day. Your body needs the calories, but your body will be more efficient if you spread them out into 5 meals. Also, try to cut out the sugar in your diet, this is one of the major components of weight-gain, and keeping it on. If you cut out sugar in your diet significantly, (look at the nutrition facts on everything you eat) you will have results if about a month or so. Good luck! You will do better with your weightloss efforts if you try to learn as much about your body and diet as much as you can.
keep eating small portions every 2-3 hours with three small meal( breakfast, lunch, dinner ) hang in there your body will get use to it

I use the Atkins Diet and it works for me. I never go hungry, count calories, or worry about portion sizes. But, you'll have to learn to control your carbohydrates in order for it to work properly. Ask your doctor first.
Drink a big glass of water 30-20 minutes before each meal, I recommend you to take 3 main meals and 2-3 snack times, eat fuit as snack and fiber, allbran cookies by example have fiber and give you that full stomach feeling faster, also try to eat your meals very slow.
