Tell me everything about calories and carbs?
Question:
Answers:
Carbs have 4 calories per gram.
Protein has 4 calories per gram.
Fats have 9 calories per gram.
Everything that gets stored as fat has to be converted to fat (except for fat). The law of conservation of energy shows that we cannot get 9 calories out of only 4 calories. Therefore gram for gram, fats are (by far) the most fattening nutrient.
Contrary to what those people tell you, if you want to lose FAT, you need to burn FAT. The body does not store carbs in fat cells.
Burning fat is done by creating a caloric deficit (while avoiding starvation mode). This way, the body will tap into its fat stores to satisfy the shortage of calories. If you enter starvation mode (from poor quality meals, skipping meals, low carb diets, etc.), your body will burn muscle.
