i've got a younger cousin who think shes "fat"
right now, she is 98 pounds, 5"3, 14 year old

would you guys consider that as fat? normal? or underweigh? please tell me in detail about what you think. i really wanna use the answers to snap her outta this whole "im 98 im fat" thing.

thanks : )

Answers:
Try this BMI (Body Mass Index) Formula and know her classification:

5'3'' = 1.60 meters
98 lbs. = 45. 45 kg

BMI Formula:
weight (in m) / height^2 (in kg)

Sol'n:
45.45 kg / 2.56 m = BMI = 17.75
.: she is underweight and needs to go up around 18 before she'll be considered as normal. Good luck to her!

Status:
Below 18.5 :Underweight
18.5 - 24.9: Normal
25.0 - 29.9: Overweight
30.0 and Above: Obese

A BMI of less than 19 indicates you are underweight. A BMI between 20 and 24 is usually considered normal. A person with a BMI of 25 to 29 is considered overweight, and a person with a BMI of 30 or above is considered obese. Obesity is associated with an increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases.
Shes actually underweight.
The average weight for a 14 year old, 5'4" is 125.
She says shes fat because she wants you to reassure
her that shes not.
She wants people to say "you're not fat!"

What I do is just say, "Yeah, you are pretty fat!"
Haha, its funny and she'll get upset and stop saying that.
She is underweight. At 5'3 she need to be at least a little over 100 lbs.
irt seems to me that the proportion is okay.
sounds about right. surely nothing to be overly concerned about
in my opinion she is underweight. and ( no offense) but i think she may just want some compliments or reasusrance. i'd ignore her when she talks like that.
