Stopped loosing weight?
Question:
Answers:
You might want to add a little bit of resistance training to your program. Building up those muscles a little bit will help your body to burn more calories even when you're at rest.
if you find the answer please let me know, i'm having the same problem...these last 5 lbs are the worst!
That's "lose" (loose is what your old clothes are now that you've slimmed down).
Don't fret about the plateau you've hit, that's common. Don't drop your cals below 1200 or skip any meals...if you aren't already eating 4 - 6 small meals a day, switch to that to change your body's timing with regard to your metabolism (the metabolism will stay running at a higher rate longer if you feed your body more frequently).
Cut your cardio back to 3 or 4 days a week, and focus more on strength training. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism. Bear in mind though, that muscle weighs more than fat so if the scales go up slightly, don't panic...take your measurements and you'll see those numbers decrease and/or your clothes becoming more loose as the more dense muscle takes place of the fat that's being burned off.
Good luck (and congrats on your success!!)
Yes, it's called a plateau. I hit one last week after losing 55 pounds and being stuck at 136 for 2 weeks. There are alot of things that can help you get past this plateau. You could change up your excercise routine- use another machine and change it up. Also if you excercise at the same time everyday you could try to excercise at different times every day. One thing that has worked for me is to cheat on my diet- for just one meal- it sort of shocks your system - and your body's metabolism starts working in over drive to get rid of that bad food- I ate pizza on wednesday of last week and since then i have gone down to 132! yay! Good LUck!!
Congratulation! i know it's hard to stick to a diet...
The last 8 pound will be the hardest, i might take a month and more for those pounds left.
Because you've hit a "plateau", and you're body is used to your routine right now ...
I'll be hard for him to shed those extra pound
Good luck sweety!
I am sort of in the same pickle as you. After losing nearly 30lbs in two months, my weight keeps dancing around 178lbs. I am 5'8", 23 year old male.
From all that I have read, you need to change things up and keep your body guessing because it has adapted to the energy intake and expenditure you are doing on a routine and pattern basis.
You need to raise your metabolism by eating more frequently (not more total, just more often). You also need to make sure you get enough sleep and vitamins and minerals and omega-3's. You can also use the zig zag approach which says that you should stay under your calorie maintenance amount for 3 days and the following day eat slightly more than your calorie amount.
E-mail me for more speccifics, cause I am working on the same issue right now and it working slowly but surely.

you're doing everything right and staying at 142... Your body knows where it should be, and straining it to lose a few pounds isn't a good idea. If you're healthy but just don't have the number u want, then maybe you should see a doctor and ask if you're at a healthy weight yet. Good luck, and congrats on losing all that!
You are at 143 now? A doctor would tell you to stop trying to lose weight, but I understand b/c I'm 5'8' and I feel comfortable around 130/135 even if the doctor thinks it's a bit too skinny. There's not really anything else that you can do as far as excersize. Maybe instead of doing cardio so frequently alternate with some weight training. Initially it won't help you lose weight but it will help you look more toned, which gives the illusion of being skinnier. You may lose additional inches in problem areas with weight training too.
When you say you eat very healthy, what do you mean? Truly evaluate your diet. If you excersize that much you don't need to cut calories b/c you'll slow down your metabolism which will make losing weight even harder. Instead, chose the best calories. Lots of lean protein (baked chicken, broiled fish, egg whites etc.) plus lots of whole grains will help you feel good, as well as lots of fresh veggies and fruits, skim milk and yogurt, but if you crave red meat and other "bad" things eat it, b/c your body probably needs iron. Don't drink sugary drinks or sodas, Take a multivitamin, and drink 8 glasses of water everyday. You may think the water will make you retain water, but in actuality, if you body is accustomed to getting ample water everyday it will store a lot less water weight in general.
Other things that may help - eliminate caffeine, fast food, and empty calories (candy/junk food.) Eat many small meals a day instead of 2 or 3 big ones. Get ample sleep.
Please don't take pills or try fad diets. If you do all of these things and your body doesn't want to lose the weight, it's because it's happy, and you're at a good weight. Dieting dangerously will maybe help you lose weight, but you'll be putting yourself at risk.
also, increasing your excersize further won't help you lose weight. Well trained, top-shape people should have 3-5 sessions of 30 minutes or more a week, so you're proabably going overkill on that already.
