Lower your body fat to < 10% assuming you are a guy. Only way to see your abs is to remove the fat around them. Situps will only help to build the muscle, they are not going to remove the fat.

You can be pretty lean and still have too much fat covering your abs. You'll have to be pretty strict on your diet and really intense on your exercise. If you don't know what you are doing please do some research first.
The best I've done, although it may not sound too difficult until you try it, is the following. Find an incline bench (at the local gym or rec center) and set it for a pretty high angle incline (depending on your current state of fitness). Tighten/flex your ab muscles as tight as you possibly can while doing about 15 situps. If you are flexing as tight as possible, by the end of 15 you will be burning a LOT. Do this about 3 times a day, increasing repetitions and/or adding medicine balls to the mix for weight.
Loads of excercise (weighlifting, sit-ups). Eating healthily. Maybe use the weight gain stuff when you are working out. OR just use steroids. My mate had a six pack (when he was 13) he swam for 2 hours about 5 times a week, plus all the sports at school, and ate healthily. They are really hard to get for some people, and others find it a lot easier. Good luck!

I used to hate rigorous exercises but I was also so sick with my big pot belly. Luckily a friend of mine told me this very good site that I found really helpful. It gave me great workouts and diet tips and showed me what I was doing wrong before... I am now in love with regular exercises so much, as keeping my hard-rock flat stomach always makes me feeling so great!
