What's a great diet that I could put my sister on and help her with it?

Question:
It's about time she got her normal body before she got married and have three kids. She was skinny before marriage and child-breeding. I moved in with her and my brother-in-law along with my three nephews so in return, I want to help her lose at least 90 pounds. Please give me details or websites that will help me and help her cut the weight. I really appreciate it! Thank you!

Answers:
Before starting on any diet program, one should consult with a doctor; particularly if one is looking to lose 90 pounds.

That being said, many people are overweight due to two things: (1) Lack of Exercise, and (2) Portion Control (eating more than is required), and probably in that order. Exercise is the most important step that any person can take to help them lose weight. Diet alone doesn't usually cut it.

As for the diet, however, I am a big believer in portion control. Just like Mom always said... "Everything in moderation." I've added a link that gives some great guidelines and suggestions regarding portion control.

Another suggestion is calculating her Caloric Intake. You can check the second link. It's a basic principle that is based on the number of calories (energy) that your body needs to maintain. Eat more calories and you will gain weight, eat less calories and you will lose.

I truly hope this helps. And remember, consult with a doctor first.
Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/ca... This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

I would advice Weight Watchers. You go to meeting where they monitor the weight she lost and you buy pre-made meals. All you do is heat them up. They also had the amount of pointson every weight watchers food item making the system easy, you can help her by adding up the points. If you dont want to pay for an entire weight lost system... then you should have her eat nohing but South Beach diet meals(they are at any grocery store) they are an entire meal already made to be very lean (about 300 calorie meals) hope that helped
