Question:
I was a swimmer almost all my life till 2000 when i graduated was captain of the swim team for 3 years at high school. Back then i was 170 lbs 5' 11" best shape of my life. But i graduated and my school didnt offer a swimteam so i did alot of nothing. Now 7 years later i am 6 foot 235lbs i want to get back to 190-200. I just got my gym membership as of now i go in and swim for 45mins-1hr in the morning usally swim about a mile and a half then go back after work at night and run a mile. I do about 100 crunches a day. I have never been a weight lifter. Looking for some suggestions for burning away waist, chest, love handles, butt and thighs any help would be appreciated.

Answers:
Well, you can't spot treat for fat loss in areas, but you can definitely build muscle. I think you'll find that once you start swimming again, the fat will come off quickly. That's usually what happens with former athletes. Your body quickly adjusts and you have an easy time getting the weight off. As far as weight lifting, it's a great idea. Just work your major muscle groups: chest, back, abs, shoulders, biceps, triceps, and legs. Start out with machines at first until you get the hang of it, and then work in some dumbells for variation. You need to change up your workouts so your body doesn't get accustomed to the weights. And when you first start out, you can look at all the machines. They say what muscle group each one works. And don't be afraid to watch what other people are doing. That's how I've learned a lot of things at the gym. And of course, don't forget the healthy diet. Good luck, I think you'll do really well.
sounds like you have a great work out regimen now, but if you want to add another great low impact exercise a bike is great! Good for the quads and over all cardio! I am assuming you are single, so it is a good way to check out the females in the neighbor hood too!
