Raw Food Diet?
Question:

If you want to lose weight healthily, raw is the way to go.
But it's not an either/or situation. You can still eat cooked food. You could start with eating 50% raw food, and increase it to 75% at which stage you will be technically raw. But labels aside, you can just go to 60% or whatever you feel comfortable with.
If you are trying to lose weight though, there are a few things you should try to exclude or minimize in your diet; meat (have oily fish instead), dairy (edge it out slowly), and wheat, just to be sure.
Reaching 50% raw is very easy. Try some breakfast ideas and start your day 100% raw. A smoothie for example, or a fruit salad, or my favorite is a porridge made from buckwheat sprouts or wheatsprouts. I just whizz up the sprouts in a blender with water, then add nuts, seeds and raisins, honey and maybe some almond milk. It's delicious, I promise.
Then have a large salad with each meal thereafter and you are already at 50%.
You will go a long way if you include superfoods in your diet. Sprouts, garlic, avocado, bee pollen, etc...will all make you feel great, even if you are just at 50% raw. It's not just about what you exclude, you see, but also what you include.
I am a writer for rawfoodmedia.com and wrote an article about increasing raw consumption which is at the website http://www.rawfoodmedia.com
There is also an article there on raw weight loss, and many other issues.

Raw Food Diets
There are a number of diet plan based on raw foods. Generally these diets are plant-based, and are comprised of at least 75% raw food. Apparently raw foods contain the enzymes that are thought to be removed during the cooking process.
A Raw Food diet is generally made up fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds and grains, dried fruit and juices, rolled or flaked grains, herbs and spices. Some people add cooked grains and legumes, good quality fish and poultry (although a number "raw food-ers" are strict vegans).
Sample Meal Plan
Breakfast
Fresh fruit salad topped with chopped fresh almonds, wheat germ, and pumpkin seeds; organic sheep's milk yogurt or coconut cream.
Lunch
Mixed salad of various leaves, tomatoes, yellow capsicums, onions and parsley with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing, topped with sprouted lentils.
Dinner
Raw mixed vegetable soup (blended); home-made sunflower seed cheese; 1/2 avocado; raspberry and banana sorbet.
Drinks allowed
Water, juices, fruit smoothies, coconut milk.
Weight loss is almost a certainty on this diet, due to its vast differences to the conventional Western diet. Calorie and carbohydrate intake are reduced leading to weight loss. It is hard to overeat on a diet due to the high water and fiber content - another reason why weight loss may occur.
This diet can be very challenging to follow, particularly from a social and shopping perspective. However cooking time can be reduced!
Protein can be low unless appropriate levels of legumes, nuts, and seeds are eaten.
Generally, this is a good diet, but potentially difficult to sustain. Proponents of the diet claim the diet has anti-aging properties.
The Best Life Diet, actually not a diet at all, but a lesson book on the how's, what's, and why's of your body, as well as information regarding good nutrition, viatmin supplements, and exercise (that can be done at home, no equipment). Written by Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen, also featured on Oprah. I started living according to the guidelines set forth in the book 3 months ago, at which time I weighed 250lbs. I now weigh 219, have lost 4 inches in my waist, 2 dress sizes, and I have more energy than I can remember ever having. It's a great, simplistic book, and worth the effort. (Oh, and no fad crap like cutting out a food group).
i really don't like the idea of raw food diet. ppl speak about the health benefits of eating nutritious veggies loaded with vitamins and fiber.
cooking veggies, even mildly activates enzymes and increases ur body's ability to absorb the nutrients more effectively.
and o course, u won't be able to eat meat unless u like sushi.
books are silly, diets are dumb.
exercise, eat well, eat in moderation.
eat 5-6 meals a day. make them smaller than ur regular 3 meals so even when u feel like snacking u are hitting ur mealtime instead. eating regularly keeps ur metabolism high including exercising.
sensation satiety- moderation and all tasting foods. why do u have chocolate even after having a huge meal? it's because ur taste buds want a variety of tastes.
avoid fried stuff, high fructose corn syrup, sugar loaded items.
avoid artificial sweeteners and if u must splenda is the best. honey has natural bioflavonoids.
never ever use sweet n low ( saccharin).
a teaspoonful of cinnamon a day sprinkled on ur toast or cereal does wonders to reduce ur cholesterol and blood sugar.
chilli and peppers are scientifically proven to revv up ur metabolism that is help u lose weight. eat a little of them.
drink plenty of water. drink green tea.
turmeric,, a herb or yellow powder used in indian cooking is thought to be helpful against Alzheimer's.
last word about grapefruits.
if u are on medications of any kind, don't have grapefruit since it neutralizes an enzyme in ur stomach that breaks down medicine. over time, these medicines will reach a toxic level.
eat organic but eat local organic. alot of organic produce comes from countries with unsanitary conditions. organic veggies have natural pigments and enzymes that fend off predators and are healthy for us.
look out for serving size. on a bottle of gatorade, it will be written 60 calories. then when u read further u realize there are 2.5 servings per bottle. so be aware in this regard.
my diet
breakfast - oatmeal ( not the sugar loaded ones) sprinkle it with cinnamon, protein shake or an egg and some fruit.
coffee
coffee made european style that is pressed is know to higher the cholesterol. not the way americans make it though that is drip and percolation.coffee increases blood sugar levels in diabetics but actually helps prevent diabetes.
new research indicates that coffee may help women in short term memory.
snacks- a fruit salad bowl.
lunch- a lean chicken with salad on the side. a garlic bread with olive oil.
snacks- nuts ( high in ess. fats , protein and fiber)
careful if ur diabetic.
dinner- a fish fried in olive oil, some salad
salad dressings- some are very high in calories andd fats so be careful.
i could go on and on, but ill stop here.
STAY AWAY FROM THE RAW FOOD DIET.
Your body needs protien, real protien, soy protien doesn't work, your body also needs fat, which those diets have virtually none of. If you work out, this diet will do nothing but starve your muscles, If you don't this diet just kills your energy. Stay away from it.
Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at http://www.fit-thin.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 4.95$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!
If you have an interest in Raw Food, I highly recommend the following book: The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose http://www.amazon.com/raw-food-detox-die...
This book will provide you some insight into the Raw Food world, explain what happens to food when it enters your body and how to incorporate more raw food in to your diet...if you so choose.
I have read this book and follow the guidelines to the best of my ability and feel wonderful. I have also recommended this book to several family members and friends. If Raw Food is something you think you might was to get into, this is a great place to start.
Good Luck and feel free to contact me with any questions.
