Getting in Shape with a Bad Back?

Question:
Okay, my friend has a spina bifida acculta and a herniated disc on her back or..something. Anyway, obviously she has a bad back and shes been to a chiropracter but nothing really seems to help. She does take pills though to ease the pain. Thing is she wants to lose weight, and tone up but obviously she has a bad back..its really hard for her to do crunches and go running because of her back. Does anyone know anything that would help her lose weight/tone up that wouldn't put stress on her back. It would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Answers:
My mom has a bad back too and her orthopedic doctor told her to try swimming. You're weightless in the water and it's a good workout too. It gives you a cardio workout and some strength as you're using resistance to swim. She could try aqua fitness lessons...they usually have them at recreation/community centres. Obviously, she'll have to evaluate what she's eating as well to get full results. My trainer says that 80% of your fitness success has to do with nutrition, so I try hard to follow a healthy diet.
Lose weight? Hard to do when you can't exercise. Tell her to eat less. Or you can tell her you love her just the way she is.
I came across this great product for weight loss and it was excellent for me. Together with a good diet and exercise I am finally happy with my body and the way I look. You should check this product at
http://www.get-slender.info , they have a free trial and you only pay 5.49$ shipping and handling. A must!
