Weight Watchers?

If you concentrate on the 8 healthy guidelines in the week one booklet and get those points in first (2 servings of dairy, 5 servings of fruit and veggies, 2 tsp healthy oils, limit alcohols, fats and sugars, drink at least 6 glasses of water, eat whole grains, have some lean meat) every day, then if you still have points left over it doesn't have to be healthy.
Remember the whole concept of WW points is that you can still have some of the foods you enjoy. So have some ice cream or cake if you still have points for it. Switch to higher fat versions of things you may be eating fat free or low fat of.
There are lots of healthy foods that are not low in points. Meats, some of the cold water fish, avocados, etc.
You will have better success if you follow this advice. by the way the pharmicist above is exactly right about needing to eat to lose. Think of your body burning calories as a furnace. If you don't give the furnace enough fuel the fire will go out or almost die out. When it almost dies out, or goes out it's burning very little.
Make sure you eat three meals a day too. Don't think about skipping meals or the same problems with metabolism will happen.
To a very high degree, you should weigh as much as you feel happy with weighing.
As far as a "healthy weight", that's what most of the other posts are about (calculating your BMI, diet plans, etc). but most people will say what the "average" is according to different opinions.
As long as you are at a weight where you are healthy, the most important part is that you are HAPPY with your weight... not that you "should be X pounds", but that no matter what you weigh, you are happy with that instead of striving to be a size 2 or something like that
That being said, if you want to lose weight, exercise is a really good (and safe) way to lose weight. In addition to that, I would recommend meeting with a nutritionist or dietitian to see if there is something else that may benefit you more.
I'll try to explain it the best that I can.
The concept of eating more to lose weight is all about metabolism. Many people think that starving themselves is the way to lose weight, when in fact, the opposite happens. This is because our bodies are wired for survival. When you don't feed your body, your metabolism slows down so that less energy is required to function. Once you eat again, the body sucks up all those calories and fat because it is starving and wants to store the energy.
Eating small meals more often keeps your metabolism at a higher level because your is continuously processing this energy, instead of storing it for survival because it is starving.
Try eating more complex carbohydrates - brown rice, wheat bread, etc. Also, nuts (in moderation) are high in healthy fat and full of protein. These will easily use up your points if you are having trouble. Use a teaspoon or two of olive oil on your salads or on whatever you're cooking...it is good for you and will also use several points. Bananas are good for you and a little higher in sugar than other fruits - and they're great with yogurt or in a smoothie. I agree it's important to use up your daily points (you don't have to use the flex points) to make sure you are getting enough food.
Of course, exercise will also speed up the process and you are not required to use the points you get from exercising. Hope that helps!
