first off, you can buy cheap dumbbells and ankle weights at wal mart to keep at home, under a bed. buy some in different weights: 5, 7, 10, 12 lbs. a great exercise for your backside and the back of your thighs (hamstrings) is take two dumbbells in whatever weight you want. find some thing stable to prop under your heels, like a thin, hard box about 4 inches high, or stack a couple of books on top of each other (about 3-4 inches high). keep your toes pointing straight ahead, keep your heels propped on your books, and holding the dumbbells in your hands, slowly lower your hands and then torso down until the dumbbells are right above your feet. then SLOWLY raise your torso back up, keeping your hands down in front of you. use your glutes (your bum), and the back of your legs to raise your body, not your back! you will be able to feel it in your hamstrings if you are doing it correctly. here is another one: put on your ankle weights and then lie face down on a bench of some kind. prop something stable under your hips to raise it up, like a couple of hard towels. then gripping the top of the bench, bend your legs upwards towards your bum, squeezing at the top. this is also great for your bum and hamstrings. good luck.
anything you enjoy, else you won't keep to it.
There are exercises for your needs that don't use machinery. Check the web.
treadmill. running tones your legs (thighs) and pretty much your entire body. it folds up and most of them have wheels on the bottom for you to roll them out of the way. also, you should do pilates. it works all of your muscles and you can buy cheap (but good) pilates videos at wal-mart or best buy, and the only other equipment you need is a yoga mat (you can do yoga as well, it helps tone your muscles)
why not try walking? sure it takes time but you get to see things in your neibourhood and surrounding area you didn't know were there.
i recommend the ski machine or the cycle mac hing if you want to buy equipment. But a trampoline is is the best all round exercise (other then swimming) but id re mend classes as most people buy them without knowing how to use them right causing serous injury.
but i think you can accede better results without machines
A rowing machine will give you a great all over workout and they fold up to a fairly small size. However, if I were you I would save your money and just go outside and run.
to tone up those areas u really dont need any fancy equipment. for ur gluts do squats. u could start of with 3 sets of 12-15 and build up from there. for thigh try lunges with the same reps as the squats and u should see a more toned glut. visit www.bodyforlife.com for pictures just so u know what u r doing.
It depnds what you like doing. I do swimming 1 every 2 weeks, bike riding 7x a weeks running 7x times a week ice skating about 1 every two weeks, dancing every week.
you don't have to do as much as this you could just do something once day for 15 mins.
