Cardi+resistance?

Question:
i walk 4 miles at the gym 4 days a week which is a one hour cardio session plus 20 minutes of resistance training. is that enough? or should i be doing five days a week. i feel like when i take a day off i am going to gain weight and i get mad at myself for only going 4 days a week.

Answers:
Walking? I burn more calories in my sleep. Not trying to be mean but you shouldnt be walking and I would ditch the treadmill for a while since it sounds like youve been doing it for a while.

Heres what you should do:

1. Do resistance training FIRST, but

Do 3-4 sets of 3 different exercises for each muscle group you workout that day:

Meaning if your doing biceps:

Do 3-4 sets of curls
Do 3-4 sets of a different bicep exercise
and another 3-4 sets of a different bicep exercise

Do 2-3 different muscle groups each session, but dont do the same group if you did it the day before

I would do this 3-4x a week, I personally do it 5-6, but never do more then 6, so is even a little too much.

2. Cardio, 30-45 minute sessions after weight training, 4x a week

Do something intense, I dont think your at the point to think about HIIT or jumproping, but at least do something more intense then running, your not burning any calories doing that.

I think you should do elliptical with resistance or stair master or something like that.

Just a little comparison for you to get an idea, when I do 45 minutes on the elliptical, I burn about 900 calories. Most these machines aren't accurate when it comes to calories, but its just a comparison. I dont think you should be doing anywhere near me (even though I'm not in the best shape in the world) but you should be burning at least 500-600 calories a session.

Now about the part about getting mad at yourself and the gaining weight:

There is no point to do cardio more then that, there really isnt, even though it does sound crazy. I thought my personal trainer was wrong when he told me this so I asked my pharmacist. When he agreed I went and asked on bodybuilding forums. THEY ALL SAID THERES NO POINT IN DOING ANYMORE, your overtraining your body.

Also watch your diet, its just as important. Try to only consume complex carbs, not simple ones. Simple ones after a workout if you take a protein shake only.

Also you only should be consuming carbs in the morning for breakfast, before your workout, and right after your workout.

Sorry about it coming out so unorganized, email me if you have any questions, theres so much more, but its too much to type right now.
