I am on phentermine, I eat well, & work out at Curves 3 x's a week. Why aren't I losing weight?

Question:
I'm doing everything right but I weigh the same. During my first week or so of taking the phen I lost about 10 pounds. It has been almost 2 1/2 - 3 weeks since then and I haven't lost a damn thing. What can I do different. I am very overweight so I would think the pounds would be melting off.

Answers:
well, right now you are about to enter into the stage where the inches will begin to melt off. the stage where the pounds begin to melt off usually will follow a week or two after that.

the main reason behind that is that muscle weighs more than fat. (im sure you've heard that a million times)

the second reason is that when you first start working out, your body will try to cling to as much water as possible. i bet you've noticed that you havent gone to the restroom as much as you used to. thats because your body isnt used to working as much as it has needed to. so its retaining a lot of water. as this becomes a routine, the water weight will go back down.

good luck!
to continue losing weight, you have to INCREASE your activity. you will (well, have) plateau ... if you're only working out three times a day, you should be working out five times a week! and you should be drinking a lot of water.

the key to losing weight (whether you're on a diet pill or not) is to eat five small high protein, low carb, meals, drink 1/2 your body weight in oz of water, and exercise a minimum of 60 minutes a day (cardio) and doing some weight training & resistance training is very helpful, too.

you're obviously not doing enough. if you really want to lose weight, you have to put some work into it! you can't 1/2 @$$ it just cause you're taking phentermine.
If you are thinking that just taking a pill is going to change your life, you are wrong. you need to change your life style/food intake/calorie output to and then you will get results.
Your body needs more challenge as it's gotten used to the routine at curves. Also be advised that curves is great for beginners but once you start working out you have to keep mixing it up and setting new challenges for yourself in order to lose weight. My Mom went to Curves, wasn't losing anything. Added Richard Simmons tapes to her Curves workouts.2 days at Curves and 3 days cardio and she lost 20 pounds. She looks great. Give yourself the extra challenge you're not technically a beginner anymore. Best to you!
