Well to achieve overall health you need to get a wide variety of different foods. Your best bet is to follow the food pyramid. Probably the "best" foods that you can eat are fruits and vegetables though. They are low in fat and calories and high in vitamins and other important nutrients.
However that doesn't mean you will be totally healthy being just a vegetarian, the body also needs a fair amount of meats in it in order to acheive good overall health. Just don't go overboard with red meats. Try to stick more with chicken.
Broccili or blueberries are great for you. I dont know if they are the best, but they are really good.
Do not eat anything white! No sugar, no flour, no salt, no white bread, etc., etc. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink a lot of water. Lower your intake of red meat and start eating more fish. Don't eat processed meats or, for that matter, anything that has more than four ingredients. And don't forget to exericse regularly ... walking is perfect.
Spinach is awesome. However, there isn't one single food that can contribute to total health. Greens are wonderful. Spinach, broccoli, asparagus. For protein try salmon or tuna. Stay away from products that have high levels of high-fructose corn syrup, or are bleached and enriched (common in pasta, rice, bread.) Also, stay away from soda and sugary drinks. Choose grilled over fried. Best of luck!
Blueberries are very good for you, and so are bananas. Cabbage is extremely good for you and Ive heard it even helps you loose weight. Seafood is good because of the omega oils, and chicken is good because it has lots of protein and very little fat. Walnuts are good to snack on if you need to snack it my as well be healthy! Green tea is good to drink, and my daughter and I like the Chi tea that you can get with the health drinks near the vegetables. That's a start for now, but I know those foods are good because they were recommended by a famous heart specialist that was on a TV show one afternoon.
