I think push ups are the best single exercise that there is. They work a variety of muscles, including pectorals, triceps, deltoids, lats and even abs. I suggest everything in moderation. The longer you do them, the more you will be able to do. A cool thing to do is, when watching TV at nite, do a set of push ups every time a group of commercials comes on. Once you get up to 100 push ups or more a night, you will see a big change in your body. If you can add some chin ups or at least some dumbell or barbell curls, that would be great. Also, you need something for the lower body. Squats or deep knee bends are great. You don't have to use weights. They work quads, hamstrings and glutes.
Push up mostly build your breast and sit ups build you abs. You could do them ever night but I would take a day off every so often. That way you muscles have time rest and grow. If you want your muscles to show then go running. Most of the time people already have muscles. They are just covered in fat.
Doing them builds the muscles in your triceps and biceps anlong with your core muscles. If you did them every night it wouldn't hurt them but every other day is better because it lets your muscles heal instead of working them w/o rest.
Push ups and situps are very beneficial. Sit ups build your abdominal muscles, and push ups build your pectoral muscles (chest).
Yes you can do them ever night.
Here are some other exercises that are similar that you can do:
leg lifts, build you lower abdominal muscles.
the "bicycle" (it's not a bike) you can look it up online, it's something where you put your hands behind you head and bring your elbow to your knee. I do it when I work out. You'll recognize it.
I hope that helps!
Do it until your abs/pecs start to burn, that means you're building muscle!
Good luck!
i do it every day,but not too much.i also do my YOGA.best of luck.
Push ups will broaden your chest and increase the size of your arms.
Situps will tone and strengthen your abdominals, or abs.
There are no issues with doing them daily. Though you will likely feel too tired to do many the next day :)
They will build muscle but eventually they will be more of a toning exercise.
Push ups work your pecs, tris, bis, forearms, shoulders and back. Some more so than others and your technique comes into play also.
Sit ups work you abdominal muscles along with some leg and back. Once again technique comes into play.
Following is the work out I started using in the USMC and it has been very good for me:
Push ups - 20 wide arm width, 20 normal width, 20 close (make a diamond with your pointers and thumbs). I will do 2 to 3 sets of this.
Sit ups - I don't do sit ups any more but crunches instead. 40 crunches, 30 leg lifts, 30 bicycles, 30 scissor kicks. Once again 2 to 3 sets.
If you can't do this many its ok I have been doing this 3 days a week for years. Start out with as many reps that will still allow you to finish the sets and work your way up each week or so. You may even need to start with your knees on the floor. Everyone is different and you may be able to increase each week or every 2 weeks. The main thing is to continue doing it and pushing yourself.
