Protein Powder Question?


Question:
So, my boyfriend and I are thinking of replacing our lunches with protein shakes. I want something that won't make me gain weight, but , will it make him lose weight too? We both work out and want to build more muscle and just be healthy. I want to build up my metabolism and get slimmer, he doesn't need to do that. I know whey protein is much better for your body, i just need to know what we should be using.

I have used Myoplex for years. It's really good, however, you must eat your vegetables when you take protein shakes. If not, the protein will overwhelm your kidneys. One shake a day would be good, but its best taken after your workouts. It will be a good form of meal replacement. Taking it during your lunch will have it sitting in your stomach. Not the best thing for you.

I use the herbalife shake with soymilk (vanilla flavored soymilk) it is really good with fruit mixed with it and I am never hungry in between!

Well,don't replace your ENTIRE lunch,just pack a healthy SAndwich and a protein shake.
I also use herbalife. It can be customized to loose weight or maintain weight.

Protein shakes can be only take 2 times a day because it doesn't really replace food and he doesn't help to get more muscle, you will get better result with a good nutrition plan. Protein powder are a scam as many company don't put the right content in the box..Twinlab is a great brand, Optimum Nutrition ok.To speed up your metabolism you need to eat every 3 hours a balance meal and do 45 mn to 1 hour cardio at your Heart rate: best : your age-220=maximim Heart rate, find 65% of that number and you will have your perfect Heart rate to improve your metabolism and burn fat..Replacing your lunches with only protein shakes will starve your body of Carbohydrates so then fatigue comes and hunger maybe mood swing too. Then you will start to eat normally and gain more weight as a result. Balance meal: protein+carbohydrates+fat is the answer 50%+40%+10% respectively if your goal is to increase muscle tone or mass and lose fat
I used Myoplex for a while and it was only making me gain weight; protein powders should only contain about 4-5 grams of carbs per serving, myoplex has 23 g! And it has alot of unnecessary junk in it. I use an all natural protein powder that I found at Wild Oats. You should try to have only protein/supplements after your workouts (which is when they will make the most difference). The rest of the time eat only whole meals --they are really the best for you.
