Walking is excellent - no special equipment (except a good pair of shoes), you can do it just about anywhere or any time. If you can walk just fast enough to get your heart rate up and do it for at least 45 minutes, five times a week, you'll see a difference in your body. Try to eat clean, too. Anything that isn't processed. Fresh produce is a great way to go. You can do it!
i walked every morning around my complex and i lost like 6 pounds a month. But i stop because i was getting too skinny.

walking is actually just as good as running for weight loss start with 15-20min walk a day. then move up from there. Im about to start walking myself- i have to lose 40lbs!
