One hour at the gym...everyday. Does anyone know how much calories I'm burning?

Question:
Well, I stay on the bike for 10 minutes. I put 150 lbs on the "abdominal machine" LOL I don't know its name I do about 200 "moves".
then I go to the machines that is for back then shoulders then thighs then another one for thighs (don't worry the trainer is supervising.I just don't know the names of the machines)
I put about 20 lbs and do about 80-100 "moves" on each one of those machines. I stay an hour at the gym. How many calories do you think I'm burning?

Answers:
Probably nowhere near as many you think. If your objective is burning calories and weight loss, you'd be better off putting less time on the machines and more time on the bike and treadmill.

Any doubts? Try your session wearing a heart rate monitor and see what the average is after your done. Then compare it to the average from an hour on the bike. The bike number will be significantly higher.

Why would we care about heart rate for weight loss? Because burning calories (or FUEL) requires oxygen. Your cardiovascular system is what delivers oxygen to the muscles. Higher heart rate = more oxygen = more calories burned.
Check out this wicked site, www.calorie-count.com tells you all the calories gained from most popular foods and meals. And the calories burned from heaps of different exercises.
About 800 calories.
I'd say about 500 calories
You said you have a trainer...but I don't think any good trainer would have you doing that many reps on any machine. It's not good for your muscles at all and you're probably not gaining strength at all by doing that. They should have you doing more cardio as well. Maybe you need to talk to your trainer about what you're doing...they should be able to give you an estimate of the calories you're burning.
Nobody could give you an exact answer because there are too many variables.

For example, one would need to know your speed at which you're biking to determine how many calories you're spending on the bike for 10 minutes. You should calculate about 30/35 calories for every miles so you could do 2 miles in ten minutes at 12mph (60/70 calories) or you could do 2.5 miles in ten minutes at 15mph (75/87 calories).

I don’t know about your trainer but you sound like you need a lot of supervision and your trainer sounds like he/she does not know what he/she is doing! You should not do so many “moves” as you call them…those are really called “reps” or “repetitions”. You should choose a weight that enables you to do at least 8 repetitions. If you cannot do 8 repetitions, then lower the weight. Once you get to 12 repetitions, you should add more weight and go back to 8 repetitions. You might also play it safe and do up to 16 repetitions before you add weights.

Doing 80, 100 or 200 “moves” is just really a waste of time and not a great way to build muscle mass and get stronger, since the weight you are using is much too light for you.

Also you should not go to the gym every day since the rest period for your muscle is as much important as the exercise. Your muscles need to rest in order to heal and get stronger. Of course, at this point, I don’t think your muscles need a lot of healing and repairing since you are not really pushing them.

Stop worrying about how many calories you’re spending. Just calculate an average of 15 calories for each set of 8 to 12 reps and you’ll get a ball park.

Building muscle mass will get your metabolism higher all day long and it’s really outside the gym that your body will be spending more calories 24/7 because you exercised a little.
It sounds as if your "trainer" is not very good-are they certified, are you paying them?
I would never let a client of mine do 200 "moves".
Did they tell you what the names of the machines are,did they tell you that the "moves" are called repititions?
Are you doing any exercises for;chest, biceps, triceps?
I do not want to talk bad about another personal trainer-but it sounds as is they are not very good-did they ask you about what your goals are?Do they give you nutrition tips?
