Situps/crunches and all those things alone won't get you a flat belly. You need to burn fat all over to see a change. I carry most of my weight in my thighs and butt, but I want to strengthen my whole body. I do 10 minutes of cardio to get my heart rate up (treadmill and elliptical are great for lower body), 30 minutes of weight training (with minimal breaks in between), 5 minutes of just ab stuff, and then I finish up with about 30-40 minutes of cardio.
That's just exercise...you also need to think about your diet as well. Are you eating things to contribute to your weight? Drinking enough water is also important, and eating more small meals during the day so your blood sugar doesn't drop too low. If you need some more advice, there are some great websites out there that I'll add to my sources. Hope this helps somewhat!
I saw on the Today show yesterday that sit-ups and crunches can strengthen your abdominal muscles, but they wont get rid of a belly alone. You need to do a high - calorie burning exercise to blast the fat away. Then those toned muscles underneath can shine through. Try jumping rope. It's inexpensive and burns more calories per hour than running. The best part? If its raining you can still do it indoors!
You need to add diet and cardio to your plan and add crunches instead of situps.
Diet: cut out the soda and junk food and try to eat 5 small meals a day.
Cardio: 30-40 minutes of jogging, bicycling, swimming etc... 3 to 4 times a week.
crunches and reverse crunches: 2 to 3 times a week 3 sets of 15-20.
This is a very common misconception. Sadly, "spot training", such as sit ups do not get rid of fat. What you are doing right now is developing strong hard muscles that are hidden beneath a layer of fat. You probably notice that you are stronger in your abdomen region, but you aren't seeing much of a physical change. What you need to do is trim down and get rid of the layer of fat that is hiding your muscle. The only way of losing fat is to burn more calories than you intake. Cardio work outs are the best work outs to melt away pounds and lose fat. This doesn't happen overnight and unfortunately you don't get to choose exactly where your body loses the fat. However, I can guarantee you that if you start eating super healthy foods like fruits and vegetable while monitoring your calorie intake and exercising for as little as half an hour a day by running, dancing, or bicycling, you will start seeing results and feeling way better in as little as two weeks. It's not easy but if you commit it is well worth it. However, this doesn't mean you should stop the sit ups, they are toning your abdominal muscles but alone no matter how many you do they will not burn fat. I wish you the best of luck!
Oh,poor you.
What suggest is to jog right when you get up before you eat and before lunch and dinner.Right before bed too.A small jog around the neighbourhood.Should take up 10 to 20 minutes.
Absolutely STOP with the sit ups.You don't get thinner, you get STRONGER.
Do NOT start taking diets unless a doctor suggests. Its unhealthy and can get you in a hospital.
Try exersising as muych as you can but when you get tired, stop immediatly.
Good luck!
Make sure that when you are doning situps, you are doing them in sets. For instance, do 50, then take a rest, 50 more and so on... Also, you need to give your muscles a day in between all the work, so take a day off. Your muscles must heal.
you can do a 1,000 sit ups but if you have a decent amount of body fat over your muscles they will be hidden underneath the layers.
The key is toning here. You will have to diet down and cardio to lose some body fat.
You should go and get your bodyfat% checked out. For every 1lb of body fat = 3,500 calories. So burning an extra 500 calories a day (cardio) while eating clean and in 5 days you should lose a legit 1lb of body fat.
You can play around with these numbers and increase to 1000 day if you have the time and burn off 7,000 extra fat calories in 5 days for 2lb loss also.
You have to eat though because you'll be tired and low on energy if you don't. Eating is the key here. Eat clean, low fat, fruits, veggies..etc. Water..etc
Give it about 4-6 weeks and you should see a huge difference in your appearance.
