Am I dangerously losing weight? please help?

Im almost 18 and have decided i want to lose weight, im the type of person who can lose weight really quickly and then put it back on quickly but recently ive vut out all sweetstuff and started drinking more water and trying to keep my daily alowance below 500 cals but im still getting al the food i need- fruit for breky cereal for lunchsmall meal for dinner!
Is this ok as my friends seem worried.

I am in exactly the same position as you, although I have never been thin exactly. I have now gotten the willpower to start, as I finished school, and have started to diet before I go to college, and seriously this time. In the past I have lost a couple of pounds and then put it back on again, but now I am doing good. I am having help at my doctors now, and get weighed every month because the weight was damaging me psychologically, as I would feel self-conscious and would self-harm. I have now lost 16lbs in 1mth 2 weeks and am so happy. I eat a bowl of low-fat cereal for breakfast, and then a small dinner with less fat. I then exercise for 1-2 hours at nightime to work it off. Just eat healthy, get exercise, and drink fluids.
Don't worry so much about the calorie count. Just make sure you're getting you're daily "pyramid" of foods.
I'm pretty sure the normal 18-year-old needs more than 500 calories a day, so yes, that is pretty dangerous.
You should be eating at least 900 calories a day. Your friends are right at being worried and you should be too.

be careful... that's too much reducing. always take step at a time. eating cereal at lunch? fruit for breakfast? although seems to be a good idea, still a bad habit for you. make sure you can still give your body the nutrients it needs. the best way is to eat less and do exercises. that's the healthiest way.
You are doing fine. I would take in just a few more calories though. If you are exercising you will need more calorie intake to burn more. cutting out sweets and carbs will make a huge difference. But try to keep your calorie intake at about 1000 per day. believe me its not that much! Good luck..
It is better not to get more food and less than wanted. I suggest you to have medium amount, It will help you to keep your health properly,
If you try to change your habbit immediately, your body cycle may confuse. So if you want anything to be changed, It should be done very slowly, you better try my advice, really you will understand the different.

Doctors suggest that you get a minimum of 1200cals/day. But as long as you are eating small meals/snacks and not feeling dizzy or hungry or using weight loss enhancement drugs, then I say do what you want. I think that doctors and people alike, just suggest that you eat so many calories for a certain age group.but how do they know that the same amount of caloried for each age group is the right amount?!? I consume 1000 cals or less a day and I have had no medical problems whatsoever, my doctor says that I am healthy as a horse!! As long as you are happy and not harming yourself I say do what you want!!
get your fiber and protein in there too. perhaps some more calories and walking about an hour a day would be a good idea as this way you get the exercise benefit and better muscle tone.
honey you need 2000 calories a day! the weight your losing is muscle not fat! you need to eat 6 small meals a day, healty balanced meals and excercise!!!

If you really are overweight, sure, try to lose it. But under 500 calories a day is not healthy. You are not getting the nutrition you need. For one thing, you aren't getting any vegetables. And I'm willing to bet that you're not getting a number of vitamins.
Try eating sensibly, and getting exercise. If you're not sure how to yourself, consult a dietitian.
And consider a lifestyle change, rather than just a diet. That will make it easier for you to keep the unwanted weight off. Include more activity and less time sitting at the computer, or in front of a television.

500 calories a day is just setting yourself up for failure. Dropping below 1200 for an extended period will just cause your body to hold onto fat. And when you do finally start eating it will hold onto everything you eat making you even fatter. You are going to have to watch what you eat and get support.
