watch your calories ( 1500-2000 cal a day ) get at least a half hour of moderate excersise a day (ride a bike, run, do a cardio video, dance) -chart and keep track of your calories (I kept a journal) keep in mind that your beverages have calories, drink water, and keep hydrated (it can really make a difference)
if your hungry find a fruit or veggie that you like remember you can eat a lot more of those for the same ammount of calories, than say chips, or chocolate or what have you.
take a multi vitamin.
really if you just keep track of your calories, and stay hydrated and excersise moderatly.. it can make a huge difference in five months! just remember to stick with it, have FUN with it..
you dont have to KILL yourself, find good food that you enjoy.. and just be active,(find some activity that you enjoy) monitor and keep track of your calories (you dont have to eat like a rabbit, you can be full and meet your daily requirements) and stay hydrated and you'll do just fine!
(I drink water, and started drinking the v8-fruit fusion and v8-splash stuff (some of it really you cant tell its not just juice) and it gives you a serving of fruits and veggies, and that helps with keeping the good stuff nutrients in your body too)
dont starve, that can backfire, dont freak if its not going the way you want as fast.. just evaluate what your doing and stick with it and you'll do just fine!
a good tip is to feel good about yourself too! do your hair, nails, all that stuff, you'll feel more motivated if you feel good!
