Why people say that if you eat a really small amount of calories you wont lose weight but then you see...?
Question:
Thnx!
Answers:
Anorexics die of starvation if they don't get medical help. Anorexics are usually underweight to begin with and don't actually have a problem with being overweight, it's all in their heads. Eating a small amount of calories for a normal person who is not anorexic causes the body's metabolism to slow down to a near stop. The body will store the fat and burn muscle and tissue cells instead (heart, liver, kidneys etc). When that person starts eating again the body will horde every ounce of food it can get and will turn it all into fat just in case it finds itself starving again. So you end up gaining it all back and then some (usually at least twice as much as was lost). And now you have irreversible damage to your major organs that can be deadly in nature.
An anorexic has an unhealthy body and an unhealthy mind.
That's an entirely different story, really. Anorexic girls starve themselves (so they have no intake of calories)... but if you eat a limited amount of calories, it is usually a small enough amount of food that your body shuts down your metabolism so you can't burn as many calories.
If you don't eat anything (which is TOTALLY unhealthy and does much more harm than good), you aren't taking in any calories, so your body pulls the energy out of anywhere in your body that it can (including muscles and bones). When you have a small enough amount of food, your body goes into "fasting mode" where you aren't as hungry and your metabolism shuts down so that your body will be able to use the limited reserves of fat/food (which it uses as energy) for a longer period of time.
If you eat a healthy amount of food (and the right foods, not to mention a good breakfast), your metabolism will pick up and you will burn more calories. That along with a good exercise regiment will help to lose weight in the safest and healthiest way possible.
If you need help with this, I would recommend meeting with a nutritionist or dietitian to see if there is something else that may benefit you more.
Because they Never eat, so they cant gain it back, when YoU eat a little amount of calories you WIll eventually loose it BUT, once you start eating again you will gain it all back, because you slowered yout metabolism, and you might eveb gain more
The reason why aneorexics lose weight is because they don't consume any calories ie food and the fat that is stored in theirs bodies ends up being used for fuel. I'm not sure who told you you couldn't lose weight by cutting calories ,but that is what most drs actually recommend for dieters combined with exersise.
When you don't eat ie: do not digest enough calories for your body to function, your body goes into starvation mode. At this point all the fatty reserves on your are being put into use AND your body stops burning fat altogether= you don't lose weight.
Anorexics have put there body into major starvation mode: their body has not only activated the fatty deposits but the body has desperately burned those away and continue to drain the body of every resource/reserve of anything it has to keep the person alive. that's why anorexia/starvation is in no way a healthy way to lose weight. Yeah your 50lbs lighter but you're as fragile as dry straw and losing your teeth, hair and will to live
Dianne G is correct.
When you go about trying ot starve yourself whle losing weight also...for starters you are completely destroying your metabolism to no end, plus when you gain it all back (and you WILL gain it all back) it will be mostly all fat and you'll have even less muscle the second time around to help burn the calories that you don't eat anyway.
This is why being anorexic looks so horrible. No muscle just bones and skin.
P.S. I wouldn't use unhealthy, anorexic girls as an example to support your claim either.
