Is it good for a 15 year old who is overweight to run 15 minutes 2x each day??

Good for you! A preferrable exercise, however, would be to walk briskly 30 minutes each day, or at least five times a week.
I say this because you mention you are overweight. When you are overweight it is often best to start gradually and slowly to avoid injuries, build up your endurance, and prevent becoming frustrated when you don't see immediate results. Your body typically will not begin burning fat until after at least 15-20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise (yes, this includes walking!).
It is very important to have proper footwear for your walking and running. Cheap, unsupportive footwear will result in tendon and ligament injuries that may easily plague you for the rest of your life.
After you've been walking for about 3 months, you may wish to try running. Be patient! You must build up your endurance.
yes IF YOU RUN A LOT.
Any amount of exercise is good. Then you will start to run longer and more often. Keep it up.
Yeah that sounds fine.
Aslong as you're eating right and not over doing it it should be okay.
Make sure you drink plenty of water and eat 3 meals a day full of nutrients you'll be fine =]
Just be careful not to overdo it!
xx
It's perfectly safe, but if you are going to do that make sure that you hydrate well during the day. I am glad you chose a healthy way to lose weight. Remember also to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Good drinks are water, carbonated water(not flavored), and unsweetened iced teas. Eat lots of lean meats and whole grains too.
This is actually a very good regime, not only will it improve stamina, but also cardovuscular palapatations (heart beat) and will also burn alot of fat, since your excercising twice a day instead of once your body's metabolic rate will increase burning more fat and calories than just one 30 minute run!
Of course it is good, cardio exercises (activities that increase your heart rate) burn calories, make your heart stronger, increase your lung capacity, reduces risks of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, and it can also reduce stress. I would recommend maybe running for 5 minutes and jogging for the other 10 so that you don't over do it though. Then the next week or every other week you can increase the time you are running a little, until you are running the entire 15 minutes or longer. Exercise is only bad when used in excess. Keep up the good work, eat healthy, and drink lots of water and soon you won't be able to call this 15 year old overweight anymore.
sure, but if you're overweight you should run more than 15 minutes twice a day. gradually start running more and more. aim for an hour, at least every other day if you want to get in shape faster.
Well, how over weight is the 15 year old and how tall? If they are just slightly over weight then yes this is good. If they are very overweight then no. I would start off at 10 minutes once a day and work your way up. Like 15 minutes the next week. A person only needs to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes, times a week. But extremely obese people need to start off less and work your way up.
i guess.. but you should really take it slow at first and not over do it then when you see that your decreasing in weight then you can ride up the speed and time that you run !
definitely take it slow at first though!
good luck!
