Constepation and Diet?
Question:
I had a really upset stomach on wednesdays and lost two pounds that day. Then on thursday-today (the past 5 days) I haven't produced stool at all and havn't lost any weight which should because I'm on the first stage. Is there any home remadee you know that will make you produce stool? Or are there any laxativies I can take to make me?
Also, do you think if I do make stool will my weight be lighter do to the fact that I stayed on the diet and haven't lost any weight because I haven't pooped?
Answers:
While fiber would be your best bet for now, you will want to be VERY careful about taking any laxatives. I believe the South Beach Diet is more of a laxative program, so you should have had a few BMs during this time.
If it is more of a laxative program (as I think it is), it's possible you're having some sort of allergic reaction that is making you constipated (I've heard of a few cases before like that, and that would explain the stomach upset followed by no BMs), and if that is the case, you'll want to stop taking the product.
It may be best for you to stop taking that for a few days until you get back to "regular stools", then try it again for a few days. If you have the same response, don't take it again.
Whatever you decide, I wish you good luck.
Fiber is the best way. You can get it in powder or tablet form, or eat more vegetables
Fiber is a great way to lose weight. try and look for whole grain foods that have higher amounts of fiber already in them. A friend of mine bought a Chinese herbal tea called Bojenmi and it helps to keep you regular. She swears it works and it's not very expensive. I asked a doctor about it and he said that its safe and even children can use it.
