What's your view on exercising for 3-4 hours per day?

Question:
hello,hello. (:
About a month ago, my friend decided to
start exercising for 3-4 hours everyday. She
did this for a month, 7 days a week. She would
sometimes skip a day, though. I would say she
lost about 15 pounds. Of course, she also
was on a diet while she did this. I know it's
probably not healthy, & she probably shouldn't
have done it, but she looks fantastic, now. I was
thinking that maybe I should start doing this. I have
been exercising this summer, & have lost about
10 pounds. It is my senior year, this year & I want to
look better than I ever have. Should I start doing this,
or is it so unhealthy that I shouldn't even try?
Please & thankyou. (:

Answers:
Sure, why not? Serious athletes do it all the time, even really old guys like me (I don't dare stop or everthing gets stiff and stops working!). Ask your friends on the swim team.
she shouldn't do that her muscles can mess up and hour a day is best.
Look at professional athletes, they train up to 5 hours a day! If you havethe time and the dedication to train for that amount of time then you should. But you really need to boost your diet. Swimmers try to consume 20,000 calories a day to make sure theu have enough energy for their training! So if you are training hard for long periods, make sure you know exactly how to supplement your diet or you will not see the results you want.
Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.
It's not a good idea unless you want to burn your muscles. The ideal exercising period is no more than 1 hour a day, accompanied with regular rest. Your friend may look fabulous for now, but in a couple of months time, she'll regain all the weight back, since she now has slower metabolism due to having less muscle.

To lose weight healthily, you need is patience, consistency and determination. There's absolutely no need to push yourself too hard. Weight loss is actually easy and simple, but there are certain things people keep ignoring when they try to lose weight:
1) You need to change your lifestyle. People go on crash diets and lose some pounds, then they get back to their old eating habits, hence gaining more pounds, and the cycle repeats again. Junk food and soft drinks are evil, period. They are the main culprits for a big stomach.
2) Do cardio consistently at an intensity that totally wear you out. It makes you lose weight faster. Don't underestimate inconsistency, it's the main clause of failure for those flat-ab wannabes.
3) Don't rush weight loss. You can only lose 2.5lbs per week at MOST. Any more and you're losing muscle as well. Don't expect visible results in a week or two. They only start to show after a month or so. Do you really think you gain all those pounds of fats in just a few weeks? Then don't expect to shed them pretty soon. As long as you persevere, you'll be rewarded.
ok, working out is good for you. but seriously? 3 hours a day? even if you have time to work out like that every day, let's face it...for how long can you do it?one year, tops! overtraining, in my opinion is not the answer.
you can do what i did to lose 14 kilos in 6 months: 50 minutes swimming, 3 times a week; 20 minutes a day on the elliptical machine( believe me it's awsome! just put some music on and start working out!), instead of driving to the store go by foot. be more active
as for food diet, cut out all junk food and soda. drink only water and if u want juice, then drink only fresh squeezed juice.. eat vegetables, cereal( whole grain), fruit...

good luck!
