Appetite suppressants???

Question:
Have recently quit smoking and found myself eating more. Is it true smoking suppresses your appetite and are there any appetite suppressants I can buy to help me over this stage of quitting smoking?

Answers:
Smoking does suppress appetite. It is the result of a rise in your metabolism, trying to fight off all those toxins. It will take a while, but your appetite will return to normal. In the meanwhile, you will have to really be vigilant to keep from gaining excessive weight. Some people chew gum (sugarless). This may look and sound a little weird, but I`ll tell you what helped me quit, and fight the cravings a little. I took a plastic straw of appx. the same diameter of a cigarette, packed a little cotton in it to simulate the draw, and whenever I wanted a cigarette I would use it in place of a cigarette. I would pretend to light it, I would puff on it, flick the ashes, etc. , just go through the motions as if I were actually smoking. It helped a LOT. (Will be smoke free nine years now). Be aware of another thing. I found that after awhile, If you substitute eating for smoking, your cravings kind of blend together(hard to say if you want a cigarette or something to eat, which can lead to BAD eating habits) Good luck! Just hang in there and take it one day at a time...The hardest thing to beat is the HABIT, not the addiction.
I wish there was!
Just dont eat so much. It's called SELF-CONTROL.
Try drinking more water. You will be less hungry, it's cheeper and healthier!
A lot of smokers who give up tend to eat a lot more. If you find yourself binge eating then just eat loads of fruits and vegs then your getting even more healthy at the same time and hardly any kcals
try ebay. my husband got some from there & they helped him no end.
good luck & keep it up, your doing really well.
People who quit smoking usually find they need something to do with their hands, so they eat (its the hand to mouth movement that they get used to).
Instead of heading down the road of appetite suppressants, try distracting yourself by going for a walk or making a hot drink.
Try sucking boiled sweets..
To save you much money - I use to smoke, found that sucking on sugar free mints and candies did the trick. Also stuck to snacking of fruits and veggies keeping my weight maintained till the urges went away, I also kept busy to keep my mind off the cravings. A Pat on the Back for you and I wish you the Best.
the reason is because you have nothing to do with your hands and boredom, try to eat less, which is easy to say, if not, try to eat fruit instead, cut an apple and eat the segments, good luck, although I only smoke a Cigar every so often
there are many many different types of tablets you can get from any chemist just ask and they can help you out. but also you may want to try the drinking water first as this does work for most people.

good luck
Appetite suppressant are both dubious and dangerous, many being addictive. Make only a modest reduction in your calorie but take up regular, vigorous exercise. Without this you are unlikely to sustain LONG TERM weight loss.

Well done on the smoking by the way, this is phase 2.
Try chewing gum it keeps your jaw active and tricks your mind into thinking that your eating something.
