I have a question about working out.?

Question:
I am trying to loose about 20 pounds and just generaly be in better shape I get up every morning and do about 15 minutes of cardio and then rotate between upper body exercises and lower body exercises. I read somewhere that you should only work out 3 to 4 times a week if you are trying to loose weight. Is there any truth to that . Will working out every day slow down my weight loss?

Answers:
Since I have been doing this for the last ten years, I tell people what you need to do to lose weight and achieve great muscle tone forever. Stop eating as much red meat and pork as you can to start. Stop eating junk foods that contain extra salts or sugars. Stop, especially if you are a woman drinking sodas(regular soda contains twelve teaspoons of sugar and diet contains no sugars, just chemicals that screw up your internal organs and cause chemical imbalances). Start. Start eating more fresh vegetables either raw in salads or stir-fried with tofu in extra virgin olive oil or steamed to bring out their natural flavors and tastes. Start eating organic fruits for snacks and drink organic fruit juices. And walk. Even with the regular workouts you are doing, walk. At least two miles every day after work or school. Drink 6 to 8 bottles of pure water every day to flush the system of any 'bad' elements that have built up in your body. I did this to start by only walking one mile a day, I am now up to five. In the first thirty days I lost thirty pounds and the rest was turned into toned muscle. I cannot tell you how shocked I was at the end of thirty days to be able to see definition in my thighs and calves for the first time since high school. I am almost 60 and all my friends want to know what anti-aging stuff I am taking. I just tell them what I have just told you and I tell them to do it forever. It is never too late to start, but it is really too late if you never start.
Your body needs a rest.

It needs time to recover for muscle development.

during the off day, stay on your healthy diet. You'll probably see better result on weight loss.
Yes. It will slow you down. Your muscles need to repair themselves after a workout. They need a day of rest and they need that day of rest to get stronger. Otherwise you will just be tearing down the muscles and they will actually get smaller. Aerobics is another story. A brisk walk can do wonders and doesn't require as much down time. I hope that helps.
umm, yes & no...

it all depends on how much you can stand.
3 to 4 times is good because you give your body time to relax in between some hard work.
this can prevent injuries which may slow down your weight loss as the body concentrates on healing itself first..

however, some people can tolerate daily exercise..
I for example do hard runs 3 times, and use the other 4 to train my whole body.. and on sunday, my workout comprises strictly of stretching and very light range of motion weights

so really, you yourself have to find out how much you can take.
know what is your limit and dont push it.
Everytime you work out you are burning calories. The problem is that working out too much does not allow your body to recover. When you don't recover, your body can't do as much work due to you being weaker as opposed to stronger. Working out everyday will accellerate your weight loss, providing your body can handle it. If you aren't hardcore about it, which you don't sound like you are... you probably can't go everyday. I have been running almost daily for over 10 years now and I can't even handle doing it everyday. It breaks you down too much. I notice I can't go as fast or as far thge next day. Every other day is better.
The more you work out, the more benefits you will see.
In order to lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you are taking in.
I say, aim for 30-45 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week, along with some weight training.
15 minutes of cardio is not going to do the trick.
Also, watch what you eat.
Your diet will be critical here. Eating a little more protein with breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and cottage cheese just before bedtime is a start. Six small meals regular is critical. Thirty minutes of cardio minimum so up that cardio to 45 min. three days a week is right on the money. Get you some hand dumbbells and start weight program two days a week. Get some instruction from a local gym or just go to news stand and get one Oxygen Mag or Muscle Fitness Her's and look at the pictures. Don't stress yourself out by weighing yourself everyday it won't help. Working out everyday won't slow down your progress but your bad nutrition will.
I used to have serious over weight problem for years and I was the kind of people quite easily get sick & tired. Thank god, once I met a new friend in a family gathering and he told me a very good site that I later found so helpful.
