Are eggs fattening?


Question:
As many of you know I'm currently dieting and exercising.

I was told that when eating an egg the yellow bit is fattening and the white bits are full of calcium and that I should only eat the white bit.

Anyone confirm?

The yellow part is high in cholesterol because that's the fattening part to create the embryo to form the chick, the withe part is rich in protein, the same that feeds the chick while in the egg. A high protein diet should include egg white.

well i don't know if thats true or not but it also depends on the way the egg is cooked...boiled egg is what you should eat..and the fryed egg is mostly fattening

They are high in protein .. good for building muscles.. people use the egg whites so as to avoid the cholesterol from the yolk.. the yolk as roughly the same protein in it as the white. so there must be something in this advice.
That's true to an extent, but the yellow has lots of protein for building muscles, so it has some health benefits too. The only bad part of it is that eggs aren't good for people with high cholesterol, but if that's not a problem for you, you would be ok to eat the yolk once in a while. Just dont do it every day.
eggs are good for you, but should be eaten in moderation because of their high cholesterol. the best way to eat eggs is hard boiled...i think, at least
The egg white has only around 12 calories and more protein than a steak. All the cholesterol and almost all of the calories are in the yolk. However most of the vitamins are also in the yolk.

You can use 5 egg whites in an omelet for less calories than an average piece of bread, and far less calories than one single egg yolk. You can give it lots of flavor with mushrooms and other veggies.
yeap, i can confirm u that the source u found this, is true. the orange part has cholesterol and this means fat. u can eat two white parts instead scrabbled and it would be more healthier!!
Yes, the yolk contains only the fat at anywhere from 4-5 grams depending on the size of the egg. If you are like me, the thought of eggs without yolks is well...disappointing. My suggestion is to make scrambled eggs using 3 eggs and only one yolk. The one yolk goes a long way and brings down the calories and the fat. You can do the same in some dishes calling for eggs, although I wouldn't try to bake a cake or cookies this way. LOL but who is eating this anyway!

Yes, they are fattening. Chickens are pumped with hormones and antibiotics specifically designed to make them grow and produce more eggs. The antibiotics and hormones are passed into the eggs, and then into your body when you eat them.

Eating "just egg whites" doesn't help because the antibiotics, hormones, growth steroids, etc. are found there as well.

Plus... Just think about what your eating. It is, essentially, a chicken's period.
