A sugar-free life?
Question:
Obviously naturally occurring sugars found in fruit, root vegetables and honey are not restricted.
Have you given up sugar and what are your views on western culture's obsession with sugary food?
Answers:
My family and I have a similar lifestyle as yours.
Sugars does more harnm than just gaining weight. It affects our insulin, pancreas and gives problems like diabetes, heart problems and obesity.
I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.
Details such as Sugar and Insulin, my experience, meals, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.

I'm a sugar addict
Good for you hun. My mums diabetic and is also sugar free. I don't eat much sugar either as I'm worried its genetic. to be honest, I feel much better for it though. Healthy teeth too!!
Refined sugar is evil and should carry a health warning. So should refined flour. Refined foods, especially sugar and flour, are responsible for so many illnesses and allergies that something should be done about it.
i think some parents are wrong trying to make their kids do things, i feel that being a kid and eating sugar is part of being a kid, i myself would not force my kids into this at a young age but let them make they own minds up later in life.
but i am not knocking you at all and respect that you do what you think is best for your kids.
just like everyone else does for theirs,
i wish you luck and all good health

I am like you to a certain degree. I stopped taking sugar in my tea 21 yrs ago and could never go back to taking it.
I don't have sugar on my cereals at all. However I do eat jelly sweets (fatal for me)
My brother came back from America some years ago and bought back a cake from there for me to try. I took one mouthful and was very nearly sick.
It was so sweet. I could not eat it.
But as you say sugars in fruits and vegetables are accepted!
Hope this answers your question!
I never have added sugar or salt ,and have not done for so long I don't know whether I feel better or worse for it.!No honey either its not to my taste.Through out the world a portion of society loves sugary things --I don't think its just westerners.
Congratulations! I've tried to quit several times over the past few years. 37 days was the longest I stayed off the refined stuff. Then the orange juice crept in and got to a litre a day... and shortly after that it was all over. It's really hard, 'cause I love to bake cakes and cookies. I applaud anyone who can stick with it. Always looking for tips or 'scared straight' stories to motivate me.
At last a very sensible mum, whilst doing this you are

eating and drinking habits as you you but being a type two

I don't eat sugar at all.
My addiction, unfortunately, is to salt which is in far more products and is far more dangerous...
Oh my goodness ... I wish I could do this. I've tried but I find it so hard.
Maybe I will try again, obviously it isn't impossible.
