Should I lose weight?


Question:
i see all these skinny girls on tv and i feel soo fat. it makes me wanna go jump on a tredmill for an hour. then i ask other people and they think i'm fine. my mom is a fitnesse expert and she always says i should lose some weight. i'm about 5'5" 15 years old and weigh 145. i would send a picture but i dont know how. i guess you could look on my myspace. myspace.com/emmylovesyou14 please don't like stalk me or anything. but should i lose weight? if yes. then what's a good diet. i was thinking maybe lose 15 pounds. before school starts again.

if you want to

try
build muscle. it'll take your extra fat.(fat that didn't get burn)
i don't exactly remember how.

drink lots of water, eat nuts and raisins to increase metabolism
workout.
eat healthy.
eat slowly, because it takes awhile for food to digest, so
it takes awhile to be full after eating.

eating slowly will allow you to know when you're full to eat less.

don't sit in front of the tv while eating.

do aerobic exercises

do 2 30min exercises then have a 20 min break you'll lose more wight than not taking breaks at all
play music that you enjoy, or music that makes you feel like dancing to you'll exercise more/longer

starving will get you skinnier but at the end of it when you eat normally again your body will be saving it,
and you'll gain weight faster
like bears saving their food for the winter.

you're actually overweight for your height and age. sorry to say, but if you start school soon you won't be able to lose 15 pounds. that could take a couple of months depending on the muscle you have. you're not huge, but you're not skinny. it's really up to you to lose weight. and if your mom is a fitness expert then ask her about dieting.
you are fine, the girls on tv don't really look like that they edit it and all to make them look too thin and its unhealthy, if you are concerned talk to your doctor and they should let you know what to do.

Ok first of all I have to say, that no one needs to be mean, so if I were you hun I would ignore that other persons answer as it is a bit harsh. According to this book I have the "American Medical Association Family Medical Guide" the ideal weight for a woman that is 5'5" is between 111-142 lbs. So Accordin to that you are a little on the heavy side but if you lose 5-10lbs you would be just fine. Try eating healthy, lay off the snack foods and fast foods and get regular exercise and you should be fine. I used to work out three times a week for about an hour and a half each time and did a variety of exercises and I lost a fair amount of weight and replaced it with muscle, I should start doing that again, but anyway, the point is just work out a few times a week and eat right and you will be fine. Stay away from sugars and carbs. Also, DON'T listen to what others tell you. People in general can be terrible to one another and so long as you are comfortable with who you are and how you look then there is nothing you should change. Good luck.
u r sooo pretty an di know how u feel i'm 5'7 140lbs! and wen i look in the magazines and tv i feel so digusting and drain my sorrows in food... and then other times i look at myself and see nothing but beauty.. i hate feeling so down and i know exactly wat u mean.. i lost ten pounds to make me feel better:
i didnt eat breakfast cuz i wake up late and i'm not usually hungry
for lunch i eat a yogurt or a sandwhich
for dinner a nice salmon or steak with veggies on the side
and i drink water like crazy.. i lost most of my weight from just drinking water! soda is soooo bad!
and wen i'm craving i chew on gum or fill myself up with water or yogurt
it worked for me and i hope it works for u
and for exercise i just jumped roped and jogged in palce which burns alot of calories!!!

You don't look overweight at all. I think you look really healthy. You have to remember that a sport like cheerleading will build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat (it looks better too!) I was a cheerleader for 6 years, and most people thought I weighed between 110 or 120. Nope. I weighed 140 and I was only 5'3".

Has your mom done your body fat percentage? Very active people or people with more muscle or bone than most will appear to have a high body MASS index (what some of the others above have used to determine a "healthy" weight range for you), but with BFP you'll be considered healthy. For instance, if I do BMI I'm considered overweight, but when I had my BFP done, I'm perfectly healthy. Ask your doctor or your mom if they can do the body fat percentage or a skin-fold test.

BTW, my family always told me I was fat even when I wasn't. That lead to a very unhealthy self-image, and your mom needs to realize that by telling you to lose weight when you probably don't even need it, she's destroying your self image too.
hey sweety! U look fine and have pretty features but jsut be careful about putting ur pics all public like that. Anyway ur not fat and nothing is more clichet than the average teen who is *so* concerned about her weight. However I think u would look even *better* if u lost 10 pounds (just cuz I think it would be nice and thin).

It is totally up to u. But I think you could lose about 8 pounds in a month if u exercised 30 min a day and ate only 1400-1500 calories.

Just get out and SHOP ur butt off, go ice skating, biking, clean the yard etc. etc.

Then get new SCHOOL clothes to reward urself.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.
