How much vitamin D should one have daily to absorb calcium?

Question:
Speaking in terms of International Units

Answers:
400 IU per day is the RDA.
Some people need more, but that's a general rule of thumb as long as you are taking 1000-1200 mg of Calcium, which should be separated into at LEAST 2 doses or you may have trouble. Your body can only absorb up to 600 mg of Calcium at any given point in time, so anything more than that can build up in your body.
