What question should i ask the orthodontist Friday about becoming a dentist?

Question:
I’m going into the orthodontist Friday what should I ask her . (because I want to become a dentist ) but I don’t know if I would be able to pull out a tooth from someone else is mouth I mite just get over that little problem . Do you think I will just get over it when I get older . And what question should I ask her about becoming a dentist

Answers:
There are all kinds of dentists and dental specialists. I think you would get over pulling teeth but I would expect that your orthodontist hasn't pulled a tooth since dental school. Usually orthodontists don't pull teeth. What your orthodontist does is very different than what a general dentist does, and what an oral surgeon does, and from what an endodontist does.

The questions that were listed before were good. Ask if you could watch or if she knows a general dentist that is a friend of hers who you could visit their office and watch or maybe even help out and work for free. Then you could see if this is the kind of work that is interesting to you. You might like what they do and you might not like what they do. I always wanted to be a dentist but then I saw oral surgery and liked that much better.

If she can't help you, either call the local dental schools admissions offices or the local dental society. This may seem intimidating but usually they will be very helpful. Ask if you can watch or work for free or know somewhere that you can do that because you are interested.

To find the local dental society, look on the internet for the state dental association and then call them or email them to find out where the local dental society office is.

If you find any of these unhelpful, don't be discouraged and keep trying. The people who become dentists and specialists are the ones who didn't give up.
