Have you had PERIODONTAL SURGERY?

Question:
Have you had surgery to treat gum disease (receding gums and bone loss) and if so, what was the treatment, was it successful, would you recommend it and do you have any tips or advice for someone (me) who has been diagnosed with aggressive, borderline localised/generalised periodontal disease

Answers:
I'm a dental nurse, if a patient needs surgery we would normally refer them to a clinic. If you've got quite advanced perio, we would numb your gums and do a deep cleaning with either hand scalers or an ultrasonic scaler. We might also insert peroi chips which look like tiny disc that you don't even feel, they release lots of goodies that fight bacteria and bring the 'puffiness' down slightly. This all probably sounds horrid, but you'll be numb and won't feel a thing. One word of advise, take some pain killers before the numbness wears off, as your gums might be a bit tender for a few hours. Good luck.
No I haven't and not much help sorry
