Is it normal to have a slimy feel at an extraction site even after stitches are out?

Question:
Last Thursday I got all four wisdom teeth removed. Today I got my stitches out, I felt better after they were out. Doctor didn't even sue the words dry socket or infection, so I was happy. Everywhere feels fine, just my jaw is a little achy. For some reason, though, I have this slimy-like feeling coming from the lower left extraction area. It tastes kinda weird and is warm. What is it? Just saliva and my imagination?

Answers:
Yes. It is what your gum is doing to repair itself. Slosh a little warm salt water around in your mouth. Don't gargle vigoriously though. If you continue to have pain go back to your dentist.

Hey Nick! This is perfectly natural, your body is forming a type of membrane to protect your sockets. Use a lot of warm salt water and DO NOT swish, just let it kind of set there, and gently let it roll out of your mouth. This will also help with the bad breath caused from the old blood. Use a lot of ice packs as ice is a natural anti-inflammatory and encourages a faster healing. Ouch! I know that hurts! Get well soon!
The slimy stuff you are feeling is the membrane that protects the extraction site from getting dry socket. In other words, if thje slimy stuff wasn't present, you would be in some serious pain!! If you have any other symptoms, don't heistate to contact your dentist.dry socket is not something to take lightly!
