One stop shop dentist?

Question:
Is there a specific practice in dentistry that can fix alot of the problem listed below? (one stop shop) Like, implant, bite wings, gum disease, bridge replacement and root canal. I'm tired of having to go to 3 or 4 doctors. Please help.

Answers:
Most general dentist can be of assistance to you.

Implants require surgery so you may be referred to a specialist for that, but after the surgery is complete the general dentist will remove the healing cap, take impressions and make a temp. crown. The periodontist and the general dentist will work together on your case, so there will be no confusion.

Bite wings are a type of x-ray which is either 2 or 4 (depending on the office). These x-rays are used to diagnose carries (cavities) in between the teeth.

Depending on the progression of your gum disease, you should be able to see a general dentist to "clean up" your mouth. This requires a scaling and root planing. Usually this is done by the dental hygenist by quadrant (4 visits). You will receive local anesthetic considering your roots will be scaled. However.if your gum disease has progressed you may be referred to a periodontist (the same one you will see for your implant.)

Bridges and root canals can be done by a general dentist as well. Usually they will not refer you out, unless it is an extreme case (such as twisted roots for a root canal) Some dentist don't like to do root canals and will refer you out, but just find a dentist that won't.
A dentist is a general dentist and if they feel comfortable doing something they will. Some have more knowledge or experience in a certain area, but if they refer you to someone else they are sending you to an expert and i would be happy to go. I always want my healthcare by the confident and best. No dentist can be great in all the areas same as a family docter when they refer you to the best you should go!-as RDA
First of all, "bite wings" isn't a problem really, just a set of x-rays.

Apart from that, many general dentists do not like to venture into specialty areas, whereas others will.

In the US, look for dentists who have a Fellowship or Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry. They are required to take many hours of continuing education each year with hands-on work in the various disciplines. These dentists are more likely to do root canals and surgeries if they are not too involved.

If a particular problem is too complex to be handled safely and with an unpredictable outcome, a dentist would be foolish not to refer out to specialists who do certain procedures several times a day rather than once or twice per month.

My dentists do root canals, implants on lower teeth, some ortho, simple extractions. We still refer out certain patients to a network of reliable specialists.
