Best Treatement for Canker Sores?
Question:
But I have the worst two canker sores of my life right now, they almost are bringing me to tears at times. They are like craters in my mouth. I know these in pirticular have been caused by the fact that I have braces. I had problems keeping the brackets on and they had to change the brackets in the front because I kept biting the others off in my sleep so these are much stronger (omni brackets).
Until I can get into my orthodontist (I just moved so I have to call my new one and make an appointment) to have him fix this anyone have any ideas for a cure? I have perscription medication for canker sores and it hasnt worked at all.
Thanks!
Answers:
Carbamide peroxide is the generic form of an over-the-counter medication that combines glycerin and peroxide. The peroxide releases oxygen and cleans up bacteria. The glycerine puts on coating and helps protect the sore. Brand names include Glyoxide, Amosan, and Cankaid.

Stop drinking water from a glass
Non prescription medication called Abreave. I assume you are talking about fever blisters. Run right out and buy it. Stops them from forming, dries them out andf you could be rid of them totally in 3 or 4 days wat works for me is gargiling salt water
Campho Peneque (sp)
this is painful when it happens but it works for me.i wet my finger, put salt on my finger, then hold the salt on the sore.it burns like u wouldnt beleive but it somehow dissolves it.you may have to do it a couple times depending on the size of the sore.hope it works

do it myself
gargle salt water always worked for me. quick get yourself some " Oregano Oil " in the Health store and rinse with it from now on . You will see it helps quickly and it also will curb them to sprout up again. Good Luck
Rinse your mouth out with salted warm water.it's the only thing that will help
a Pharmacist hat told me that one and it soothe s real good, use milk of amnesia to gaggle with.
If a prescription med. hasn't helped, then at least get something to numb the pain until you see the orthodontist again. Try oragel or anbesol.at least it will numb the pain on the area temporarily.
Hopefully the doc can give you something else to heal the sores.
If they were stress or acidic caused canker sores, I'd recommend taking lysine. You can get it at Wal-Mart or any drugstore in the vitamin section.

If it's being caused by braces, then that needs immediate attention. I'm not sure lysine will help if the sores are constantly being irritated.
Take a look at this site's solutions:

For canker sores there are two things that I have found to be helpful. One is to dry the lesion by dabbing it with a tissue and fill in the crater with triple antibiotic ointment. (this works better for me) The other is to use toothpaste.
It is particularly important to do this before you go to bed at night and again first thing when you wake up. You can also do it several times during the day. Doing this will reduce the discomfort and speed healing (though for big ones it still may take a week or so). Good luck.
The best relief i've gotten is to rinse your mouth with 3 volume hydrogen peroxide. You can buy a bottle at any discount store. Good luck. Swish with Maalox or Buttermilk (use them like you would a mouthwash). they help a lot
